DoS Threats: New Vectors and Persistent Challenges

A new class of Denial-of-Service attack—Second Order—has been described, introducing novel exploitation vectors. Additionally, algorithmic complexity attacks (ACA) and direct-to-origin DDoS attacks remain persistent threats. Multiple Cisco IOS XE DoS advisories (SNMP, Web-based management) and Node.js DoS CVE-2026-58045 highlight ongoing infrastructure risks. Research on adaptive detection and mitigation of ACA provides defensive guidance. These developments expand the DoS threat landscape and align with the curator's focus on vulnerability discovery and DoS issues.
