Timber Fire and Related Central Coast Fires

The Monterey County Timber Fire reached 12,616 acres and 25% containment, moving into Ventana Wilderness; coastal evacuation orders were rescinded and Highway 1 largely reopened. The separate Plaskett Fire prompted additional evacuations near Big Sur, while smoke, Red Flag conditions, and possible Bay Area air-quality impacts remain relevant.
