Biomarker-Guided Prevention Trial Targets Alzheimer’s Before Symptoms

The PrevenTRON phase III prevention trial will use p-tau217 to identify approximately 1,600 asymptomatic people at elevated Alzheimer’s risk and test whether Roche’s trontinemab can delay progression, with four-to-six years of follow-up. The trial could clarify whether biomarker-guided treatment before symptoms is effective, but efficacy, safety, feasibility, and the consequences of identifying risk in healthy people remain unknown.
