Q3 Results Show Margin Rebound but Sharp Profit and Cash-Flow Pressure

Tesla’s Q3 2026 results showed auto gross margin excluding credits rising to 18.1%, while operating income fell 56%, GAAP profit fell about 43% and free cash flow was far below last year. Services and Other revenue rose 33% to $4.6B, but automotive and energy revenue declined; roughly $20B in capex and a reported reduction in the long-range sales target put spending and growth assumptions under scrutiny. Tesla’s 5-million-vehicle annual ambition by 2030 remains far above current production and capacity, and conflicting FSD attach-rate figures need clarification.
