Chandra Finds 84 Unexplained Hypersoft X-Ray Sources

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory has identified 84 unusual hypersoft X-ray objects across six galaxies. Their radiation remains unexplained, and the population could represent a new or poorly understood class of cosmic sources; further characterization is needed to distinguish an astrophysical discovery from selection or classification effects.
