Roman Space Telescope launched and entering commissioning

Roman launched successfully on August 30, 2026, deployed its solar arrays and sunshield, and is cruising toward L2. A highly precise mid-course correction reportedly preserved enough fuel to potentially extend operations to roughly 22 years, while commissioning milestones, calibration, anomalies, data readiness, and first images remain the priority.
