AMC Enters Indie Film Distribution With Leawood Films
AMC has created Leawood Films to distribute completed small and mid-sized movies, using excess theater capacity, marketing reach, and event-cinema expertise while allowing filmmakers to retain IP and much of downstream revenue. The label's planned 45-day exclusivity and 2027–28 launch window could reshape indie theatrical access, but its acquisition standards, marketing budgets, and relationship with existing distributors remain untested.
