Chinese networks raise academic and research-security concerns

MI5 alleges that CGTRI/CAGT, an MSS-linked Chinese research organization, used grants and academic partnerships to obtain dual-use UK academic work in AI, cybersecurity, covert communications, and steganography, with more than 100 academics reportedly connected. There is no confirmed evidence of knowing espionage or acquired intelligence, and Chinese officials deny the allegations.
