Herbert Trade Rumors Rejected as Quarterback Struggles Continue
Key Questions
What criticism did an anonymous NFL coordinator make about Justin Herbert?
The coordinator said Herbert 'plays young' regarding his pre-snap command and game management, indicating his next development leap is mental rather than physical.
How might this critique affect Herbert's growth with the Chargers?
It adds pressure on Herbert's mental development under new OC Mike McDaniel, shifting focus from physical talent to improved command and decision-making.
What does the 'plays young' comment imply for Herbert?
It suggests Herbert needs to mature in game management and pre-snap leadership, despite his physical gifts, to reach the next level.
Herbert remains the Chargers’ starter amid poor results and protection problems; recent coverage cites 99 pressured dropbacks, 21 sacks, and eight interceptions. Reports say the team has no plans to trade him, and his no-trade clause is an obstacle. Proposed fixes and Boomer Esiason’s Dak Prescott swap remain speculation.
