ETS file-transfer breach raises California student-data privacy concerns
CDE confirms ETS began notifying California students and families on October 16 after access to an ETS-operated file-transfer site; notices are expected to continue into early November. Potentially exposed data include student identifiers, birth dates, disability or program details, and assessment information, but not Social Security numbers or passwords. ETS reports no evidence the data became public and is offering two years of identity-protection services; the number affected and any misuse remain unclear.
