California advances targeted supports and employment policy in higher education

AB 713 was presented to the Governor on September 8, with implementation slated for January 6, 2027, and would affect student employment across UC, CSU, and community colleges, including undocumented students. CSU campuses are also receiving $5,500 microgrants for parenting-student supports; legal authority, campus implementation, and long-term funding remain open questions.
