Tourist-tax increase proposed to complete Paradise Coast Sports Complex

A ballot proposal would raise the tourist development tax from 5% to 6% to help finish the Paradise Coast Sports Complex. Supporters emphasize sports tourism and community benefits, while opponents question short-term-rental impacts, project costs, permanence and fiscal oversight before the November 3 vote. Voter registration closes October 5 and vote-by-mail requests are due October 22.
