Maryland has established a redistricting commission to propose new congressional maps, aiming to ensure fair representation. Governor Moore supports the initiative, though Republicans are ready to challenge it in court. Despite concerns from Senate President Ferguson about potential risks of mid-decade redistricting, public opinion is being solicited on whether to proceed before 2026. A Democrat has criticized the party's redistricting strategy as 'catastrophic,' reflecting internal tensions. The decision on whether to redraw the district lines now or wait until 2026 remains contentious, with various stakeholders expressing differing views on the timing and implications of such changes.
