Warming intensifies ocean, wildfire, forest, and wildlife risks

European marine heatwaves are becoming routine under current warming, wildfire-smoke events have tripled since the 1990s, and forest research projects amplified pest and climate pressure across more than 80% of North American forests under continued emissions. These changes are cascading into fisheries, public health, carbon storage, food systems, and climate-sensitive species.
