Measles has reached a 35-year national high, cyclospora cases exceed 17,000 across 20 states, and federal research and advisory cuts threaten public-health capacity. Extreme heat and wildfires remain active in North Texas and California, including the 85,300-acre Ross Fire and evacuations and Highway 1 closures near Big Sur.
