Nationals Acquire Infielder Nate Furman

Washington acquired Nate Furman from San Francisco for left-hander Tony Neubeck and designated Richard Lovelady for assignment. Furman’s .293 Triple-A average, 19 steals and strong minor-league walk-to-strikeout profile are promising, but his brief MLB debut offers little evidence about his major-league impact. His role and the next steps for Neubeck and Lovelady remain open.
