North Carolina launches campaign promoting text to 911

A new public safety campaign encourages residents to use text-to-911 services, especially during emergencies when voice calls are impossible. Over 70,000 texts were sent in 2025. This is a critical resource for Surry County, particularly after the recent severe flooding.
