Offseason Rebuild, Ownership and Roster-Construction Debate

After a 75-87 season, Cincinnati needs pitching, defense, contact-oriented offense, third-base production and catching; Cabrera remains its only confirmed major-league offseason signing. Nov. 1 option decisions loom for Suárez and Pierce Johnson, while Pagán has a player option; none has been decided. Luis Arraez has been suggested as a contact-bat fit, but there is no reported Reds interest; his proposed contract and fit are commentary, not team activity.
