Nevada drops UTEP to 1-5 after dominating trenches

Nevada defeated UTEP 30-13 at the Sun Bowl on Oct. 10, holding the Miners to 211 yards, nine first downs and 79 rushing yards while producing 274 rushing yards. The fifth straight loss has become a broader program crossroads for Scotty Walden, with line-of-scrimmage injuries, quarterback uncertainty and reported senior-administrator attention adding to questions about the direction of the program. San Jose State, Hawaii and Northern Illinois now form an important stretch for Walden.
