NCAA proposes major 2027 football calendar changes

The NCAA has finalized proposed changes that would create a 10-day January transfer-portal window, move the season start earlier with two guaranteed byes, and redesign offseason practice periods. Formal Cabinet approval remains pending for Oct. 6–7, 2026, but the proposal could significantly affect ULM's roster building, preparation, and scheduling.
