New Mexico opens Mountain West play with 61–7 rout of UTEP

New Mexico crushed UTEP 61–7 on Oct. 3 to move to 4–1 overall and 1–0 in the Mountain West, ending a seven-game conference-opener skid and extending its home winning streak to 11 games. Fa’avae and Brawley earned weekly honors after the Lobos’ five-takeaway performance, while Bailen George’s two touchdowns and recognition for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award further underscored the emergence of the young receiving corps.
