Central Florida reshapes transit, streets, and travel experience
Orlando’s Mobility Makeover
Central Florida is in the middle of a major transportation overhaul, from a proposed 1-cent infrastructure tax and the STAR rapid transit plan to active road transformations in downtown Orlando, Winter Park’s Park Avenue refresh, and the new Daryl Carter Parkway. Local mobility options are expanding with Ride DTO’s 50,000-ride milestone, continued SeniorTran service for seniors, and calls for rapid transit along key corridors, while parking is added at the Winter Park Library and signage issues are addressed at busy intersections. At the same time, regional and visitor travel is being redefined by the Brightline Orlando–Miami rail link, the launch of Waymo robotaxis around theme parks, and 25 new restaurants at Orlando International Airport, signaling a shift in how residents and tourists move through the region and experience the city.
