California distributed resilience and community microgrid funding faces implementation pressure

California’s DSGS program delivered approximately 1 GW during heat events with an estimated $2 return per $1 spent, but its funding future is uncertain. PG&E’s expanded V2X incentives of up to $4,500 and a newly documented 700-person community microgrid supported by $3.5M plus up to $4M in PG&E upgrades provide complementary deployment models.
