Local Elections, City Governance, and Sheriff Contract
Election activity is intensifying ahead of the Nov. 3 ballot, with eight candidates seeking three City Council seats amid a sharply factional contest between the Cupertino Together slate and Residents First-aligned candidates. Ballots are out, registration closes Oct. 19, and county guidance now includes early-voting locations and drop boxes. Cupertino’s Oct. 6 approval of a roughly $25.4 million Sheriff’s contract, up from about $19 million, sharpens scrutiny of the structural budget gap; the county disputes a review questioning approximately $10.7 million in overhead.
