Arkansas wildfire danger, drought and Russellville water planning

Statewide wildfire totals are about 1,700 fires and 39,000 acres burned; Pope County and Russellville were rated high danger in the Oct. 18 update, and little meaningful rain is forecast through late October. Drought is also advancing crop harvest, while Russellville City Corp’s exploratory $100-150 million reservoir proposal has no confirmed cost, approval or timeline.
