Two new violent crimes: (1) A Ventura man kidnapped and attempted to kill a woman near Santa Paula; victim escaped with neighbor's help, suspect in custody. (2) An attempted murder after a bar outing in Ventura; victim survived thanks to Good Samaritan, suspect held on $1M bail. Both investigations ongoing.
