Arkansas State drops to 0-2 in Sun Belt after 56-49 loss to South Alabama

Arkansas State is 2-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play after South Alabama won 56-49 on October 8. Trey Owens’ production has not offset turnovers, run-defense failures, tackling problems, special-teams concerns, and late-game breakdowns; A-State visits Southern Miss on October 17. Through six games, the Red Wolves are perfect on extra points, 5-of-7 on field goals, and have punted 18 times for 757 yards, with no major new special-teams development.
