Gig Worker Protection Enforcement Actions Escalate
The FTC ordered a $23.8 million Grubhub refund over deceptive pay claims, Uber Eats agreed to pay $4.4 million to more than 14,000 Seattle workers, and Dutch regulators fined Uber €825 million for automated suspensions without human oversight. California's privacy audit of gig platforms and continuing safety and liability lawsuits show enforcement is expanding from pay claims to algorithmic management, privacy, and platform responsibility.
