Eight South Asian countries adopted the Kathmandu Declaration and a 2026–2030 plan linking enforcement with anti-corruption work, illicit-finance investigations, digital technologies, and live-animal-trade controls. New reporting on the global reptile and amphibian pet trade adds evidence of wild capture, weak CITES coverage, and extinction risks, including for ploughshare tortoises.
