Community-Based Predator Coexistence Expands Across Africa and Nepal

A new 10-year Uganda Wildlife Authority–Wildlife Conservation Society partnership will combine protected-area management, habitat restoration, conflict reduction and community consultation, while Zimbabwe links lion protection to livestock security through predator-proof enclosures, guardians and alternative livelihoods. Nepal’s wildlife-risk insurance pilot and community-led proposals for protecting high-altitude habitats add conservation-finance and coexistence approaches, but their effectiveness remains untested.
