Advances in neural decoding and high-resolution brain imaging
Decoding Minds with Better Maps
This cluster showcases new methods for reading and interpreting brain activity, from ultra-high-density EEG to neuro-symbolic fMRI decoding. One study demonstrates that greatly increasing EEG electrode density boosts both visual category decoding and source localization, suggesting hardware improvements can substantially enhance noninvasive brain reading. Another introduces NEURONA, a framework that links symbolic concepts to fMRI patterns, enabling more interpretable decoding of mental representations. Together, they highlight a push toward more precise, explainable brain–computer interfaces and cognitive neuroscience tools.
