Cole Young wins 2026 Gold Glove at second base

Young won his first Rawlings Gold Glove after recording 16 defensive runs saved and leading AL second basemen in several workload and fielding categories. The honor is a notable individual defensive achievement amid Seattle’s historically poor team defense, though the cited minus-four fielding run value and minus-five outs above average show the metrics are not unanimous. His .246/.312/.381 line does not indicate an offensive breakout.
