Phil Longo fired after Sam Houston’s bowl-eliminating loss

Sam Houston dismissed Phil Longo after an 1-7 start and a 3-17 record across two seasons. Eric Raisbeck and Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay are interim co-head coaches for the final four games, beginning with Jacksonville State; no permanent-coach candidates or search details are confirmed. The change followed the 24-3 Missouri State loss that eliminated the Bearkats from bowl contention.
