Beijing expands its campaign to reshape global governance

China says 160 countries support its Global Governance Initiative, which links UN reform and multilateral rules with AI, finance, climate, BRI and SCO cooperation. Although the breadth of claimed backing is largely presented through Chinese sources, the campaign is a significant instrument of Global South diplomacy and competition over international norms.
