Federal courts challenge administration’s mail-ballot rules before 2026 midterms

A federal court blocked USPS from implementing a proposed mail-in-ballot rule that could permit rejection of ballots deemed noncompliant and protected mail-ballot delivery through November, citing disenfranchisement risks and inadequate evidence of fraud. A separate ballot-verification initiative remains before the Supreme Court, while the South Dakota emergency challenge adds another active dispute; existing procedures remain in place for now.
