Alex Bregman Facial Injury Threatens October Availability

Bregman was hit in the face by a foul ball while on deck during the Sept. 20 Cincinnati series finale and was hospitalized for evaluation. X-rays and a CT scan are being conducted, but there is no diagnosis or timetable yet; his potential absence would force Chicago to consider Matt Shaw or another third-base option during the final stretch and postseason.
