Federal reserve release targets New England heating-oil supply

The Department of Energy announced an exchange releasing up to 315,000 barrels from the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve, with transfers scheduled through Nov. 13; some oil is stored in South Portland. Companies must return the fuel with a premium before the 2027–28 heating season, and the effect on household prices is not yet known.
