Preseason Finale and Opening-Night Preparation

Pittsburgh completed its final preseason tuneup in Buffalo after earlier losses to Detroit and Columbus exposed concerns about offense, special teams, defensive depth, and goaltending. Crosby and Koivunen scored in the finale, but the power play remained scoreless; the game finalized much of the team's deployment picture ahead of the September 30 opener at Philadelphia.
