Fatal garbage-truck crash closes U.S. 287 in Fort Worth

A garbage-truck crash on Sept. 24 killed the driver, critically injured a passenger, and damaged the Erath Street overpass support. U.S. 287 closures may last at least a week; TxDOT hopes some lanes can reopen soon, but the overpass is expected to remain closed through October. Detours, traffic spillover, repairs, and the investigation remain active.
