Veterans Housing Aid and Major Richard Star Act

The Major Richard Star Act reached 218 House signatures, potentially forcing a November vote to end the retirement-pay offset for about 59,000 combat-injured medically retired veterans, but it is not law. Separately, VA awarded $1.17 billion in grants beginning Oct. 1 to 680 organizations serving veterans at risk of homelessness; eligible veterans can start with 877-4AID-VET.
