Gov. Morrisey requests Major Disaster Declaration for WV flooding

Governor Morrisey requested an Expedited Major Disaster Declaration for severe storms and flooding starting July 21. The immediate severe weather has passed; now hot/hazy with a break in humidity midweek. Power has been restored. However, West Virginia lawmakers face FEMA cuts reducing flood mitigation funding from $250M to $50M. SNAP food loss reporting deadline extended to Aug 10. Flood risk has subsided but policy concerns remain.
