Canada advances large-scale sovereign compute infrastructure
Bell’s planned Saskatchewan expansion could add up to 900 MW and create a potential 1.2-GW AI infrastructure hub, with up to C$52.5 billion in capital and 4,500 jobs. The project strengthens Canada’s compute-sovereignty narrative, but affordability, permitting, environmental impacts, Indigenous engagement, delivery timelines, and startup access remain unresolved.
