Tulsa beats Rice 38-17 for first American win

Tulsa snapped a three-game skid on October 17, moving to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in conference. Baylor Hayes threw three touchdown passes and Trequan Jones scored on a 45-yard run; Tulsa shut Rice out late and finished stronger, though Rice’s 289 rushing yards and Jacurri Brown’s long scoring runs leave the run-defense concern unresolved.
