Pasco school changes and safety concerns strain families

The 2026-27 school year brought new bell times, weekly Wednesday early release, and the elimination of nearly 30 bus routes because of a driver shortage. A student found with a knife at Pasco High School prompted an administrative and School Resource Officer response, but the district reported no ongoing threat. Families continue to question transportation, communication, and safety readiness, while a gym-naming review committee is scheduled to meet through November after applications closed Sept. 23.
