MSME Credit Growth Slows to 13%, ECLGS 5.0 to Support Lending

MSME credit growth decelerated to 13% in April 2026, with manufacturing MSME credit at a three-year low of 13% and only 41% penetration. Unsecured loan delinquencies rose to 7.2%. However, some banks are outperforming: UCO Bank reported MSME advances growth of 18.79% and digital MSME assets up 534%. Bank of India's Q1 FY27 results show strong RAM growth at 19.75% YoY but flagged MSME stress, with NIM dip and CASA shift. ECLGS 5.0 (₹100 cr cap, 20% working capital) has guaranteed ₹1.55 lakh crore across 4.11 lakh guarantees, targeting ₹2 lakh crore.
