Weather: Drought Improvement, Severe Storm Threat, and Upcoming Heat Wave

Drought conditions in Rowan County have improved significantly, with no severe or extreme drought remaining. However, a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms is forecast for July 30, and widespread storms through early August could bring additional rainfall and potential flood risk. Additionally, the hottest stretch of weather so far this August is forecast to arrive next week, with mid-90s and heat index near 100. A new forecast (Aug 8) indicates heat index up to 110 and isolated shower chances. Heat safety tips are being shared.
