Preclinical Strategies Against Antimicrobial Resistance
Laboratory studies identified pghi-4, a SagA inhibitor that restored vancomycin activity against drug-resistant E. faecium, and neosorangicin A as a possible RNA-polymerase-inhibiting scaffold for difficult gram-negative pathogens. Surveillance also shows substantial multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter burden, particularly in long-term acute-care hospitals, but changing definitions limit trend interpretation. These remain discovery or context signals without mammalian or human efficacy.
