Berkeley Waterfront Plans Gain Momentum

Berkeley’s future waterfront vision now combines North Basin improvements—a promenade, perched beach, birding areas, bike facilities, marsh migration space, and resilience measures—with a proposed 1,080-foot Berkeley Pier and electric-ferry infrastructure. State fast-track certification advances the pier and ferry concept, but funding, design, access, routes, and construction remain unresolved.
