Stadium construction creates capacity and financial pressure
David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium's 2026 operating plan includes approximately 32,000 seats, unavailable upper east-side seating, temporary concessions and fan facilities, split student seating, and alternate locker-room arrangements. The project remains on pace for mid-2027 completion, but reduced attendance is projected to cost about $1 million per home game and contribute to a projected $13 million athletic-department deficit.
