New York ends Regents graduation requirement beginning with class of 2028
Students graduating in 2028 and later will no longer need to pass Regents exams as the state's central graduation requirement. New York is developing alternative demonstrations of proficiency, including portfolios, applied learning, and a proposed Portrait of a Graduate framework, while federally required testing continues; local district implementation remains unsettled.
